Several people have asked about the significance of the leaf in the middle of our logo. (The logo was created by Janelle Carter, a fine local artist in San Diego).
The creative brief I originally sent Janelle contained some photos of old ceramic crocks. They had the typical white glaze, and most had some icon identifying the maker and/or the size of the crock. One had a leaf on it. She sent me an early proof containing the leaf in the center. After some back and forth conversations (I wanted a pickle or a mason jar), I trusted her artistic vision, and I’m glad I did– it’s perfect!
I like it because it’s simple, organic, and it serves as a subtle reminder that putting a fruit leaf in with any vegetable ferment will help keep the contents crispy!
What kind of leaf do you think it most resembles? (There is no right answer, we just want to know what you think!)

I don’t know about sour but, it sure looks like a cherry tree leaf to me also. Marguerite
I think it resembles a sour cherry leaf.
